Teacher's Day 2013 - Something New!

So two days ago was Teacher's Day in Korea. Yeah...we have Teacher Appreciation week in America but it's nothing like a day where:-

a. your students bring you gifts...

b. your students adorn you with boutaniers....

c. your students adorn you with flowers...

d. your students' parents bring you flowers or gifts...

e. your students don't want to do work BECAUSE they want to party and celebrate you.

Of course you have to deny the more expensive gifts to avoid conflicts of interest, bribery and potential entrapment from parents (and/or) the Dept./Ministry of Education...but...

It really shows you how a culture thanks you and thinks deeply on your sacrifice, because make no mistake...teaching is a sacrifice and a regular self denial to put the future of the nation first. It is a HIGH honor and when done right, it is not only a blessing but one of God's most beloved professions that are most representative of who and what He is.

For what is God if not a parent and thus, teacher?

P.S. Parents cooking appreciation dinner for us CAN'T be bad in any universe!
